"SOUTHBOUND"
A history of exploration in Antarctica

(available only in Italian language)

This CD-ROM is an educational work developed for dissemination purposes in 1997 by Prospero srl on behalf of the Museo Nazionale dell'Antartide. Southbound runs through the major stages in the explorations of the Antarctic continent from the eighteenth century onwards. It is divided in three parts, namely a comprehensive historical section, a scientific glossary and an educational game (players can impersonate explorers Scott and Shackleton and experience the thrill of surviving on the ice and seas of Antarctica). The most dramatic episodes of the race to the South Pole are narrated by professional actors reading from the diaries of the explorers themselves while original video images are displayed.
